Solar Victoria Rebates and Interest-free Loan
Eligibility for Victoria Rebates
They are the owner-occupier of the property
The owners have a combined household taxable income of less than $180,000 per year (based on last year’s Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessment)
They have not already received a rebate as an owner-occupier under the Solar Homes Program
It is an existing property, valued at under $3 million
That the property address has not previously taken part in the Solar Homes Program.
They do not have an existing solar PV system.
Eligibility for Interest-free Loans
To further reduce costs, owner-occupiers can apply for an interest-free loan, for an amount equivalent to their rebate amount.
An interest-free loan, matching the rebate amount, is also available for most solar panel (PV) applications.
In line with the existing rebate, the new interest-free loan can be applied up to an amount of $1,400. If your total system cost is less than $2,800, there will be no upfront cost.
The loan is required to be repaid over four years or can be repaid sooner in one lump sum.
Grid Connected Solar & Warranties
Most solar customers choose a mains grid-connected system for the reliability that such a system offers.
Your home can draw electricity from the grid when insufficient electricity is being generated by the solar panels.
Any electricity produced by the solar electricity system but not needed by your house at the time it is produced is simply fed into the mains grid, with a feed-in tariff paid to the system owner.
Check with your energy distributor that your household will be able to feed excess energy into the grid.
Grid-connected systems have two main components: the solar panel array on the roof and a grid-interactive inverter, connecting into the household’s switchboard and electricity meter.
We provide panel and inverter warranties from manufacturers and an installation warranty.
Solar for Rentals
The Solar for Rentals program offers eligible rental providers a rebate of up to $1,400 for the installation of solar panels (PV) on their property.
This reduces the upfront costs of solar while increasing the value and appeal of their property.
Eligible rental providers can also apply for an interest-free loan of up to $1,400 to further reduce the upfront cost of the solar panel system.
